Recent Deaths
The funeral for Floyd F. Fortney, 87, of Douglas, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Douglas Christian Union Church. Tommy Donaldson will officiate. Burial will be in Douglas Union Cemetery. Arrangements are by Brown-Dugger Funeral Home, Perry. He was born Sept. 5, 1920, in Douglas to John F. and Blanche Terrell Fortney and died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2007, at his home. He was a lifelong resident of Garfield County and a graduate of Douglas High School and Enid Business College.

He married Alyce Marietta Kramer Nov. 29, 1939, in Douglas. She died Jan. 3, 1986. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the Navy from February 1945 to April 1946 as an airplane mechanic. He farmed in the Douglas community and was a member of Douglas Christian Union Church and Masonic Lodge.

Surviving are two daughters, Vicki Harmon of Orlando and Cathie Benes of Perry; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Alyce, he was preceded in death by one son, one sister, one brother and one grandson.
