ENID, Okla. — Mass of Christian burial for Benford Walker, 86, of Carrier, Okla., will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, with the Rev. Joseph Irwin as celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation with the family is 7-8:30 p.m. today, April 15, at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.

Benford was born to A.C. and Florence (Franklin) Walker on Oct. 17, 1927, in Enid, Okla., and passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2014, at his home.

Benford attended Carrier School and graduated in 1946.

He served one year in the United States Army in Germany.

On April 15, 1950, he married Virginia Naberhaus in Enid.

Benford was called to active duty during the Korean War and was stationed on Okinawa for a year.

They moved to a farm near Southard and farmed there until 1965, when they moved to Carrier where he farmed until his passing. He was a member of Knights of Columbus at Okeene, and a member at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church.

Benford is survived by his wife, Virginia of the home; six sons, Randy and Jan Walker, Kent Walker, all of Enid, Robert and Nancy Walker of Yukon, Steve and Trina Walker of Lahoma, Mike and Carla Walker of Houston, Texas, and David and Carol Walker of Guthrie; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Merileen Boosinger of Indianapolis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Lynn Walker; brothers, Gaylord, Duard and Doyle; and sisters, Avis Lisman and Willa Walker.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Circle of Love or Our Daily Bread.
