Calvary Catholic Cemetery


A graveside service for James E. Rose Sr., 81, of Enid will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Enid Cemetery. Burial of his cremains will be in Calvary Cemetery. The Rev. Vernon Lee will officiate. Arrangements are by Henninger-Allen Funeral Home.

He was born March 31, 1926, in Shawneetown, Ill., to William Henry and Susie Lyon Rose and died Friday, Feb. 15, 2008, at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center.

He graduated high school in Shawneetown. During World War II he served in the Army Air Corps. He worked most of his life in the oil fields retiring from Jimmie Austin and Son’s (Exeter) Drilling Company as a tool pusher. He married Barbara Ann Walton June 15, 1951, in Arkansas. They made their home in Enid from 1963. She preceded him in death. He married Wilma Jean Smith Bell in 1995, in Sulpher Springs, Texas, and they made their home in Enid.

He was a member of the American Legion.

Surviving are his wife, Wilma, of the home; three daughters, Tina Noa of Advance, N.C., Sherry Inselman of Enid and Nancy Chapman of West Fork AR; two sons, Bill Rose of Cypress, Texas, and Thad Bell of Enid; one sister, Jolene Nixon of Mt. Vernon, IL; 11 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

In addition to his wife, Barbara, he was preceded in death by one son and one brother.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, cancer division.
