October 11, 1926 - August 28, 2018

Helen Ann Romine, 91, of Oklahoma City, formerly of Enid, passed away surrounded by her family on August 28, 2018.

Helen was born on October 11, 1926, to John and Elizabeth (Schaefer) Gales in Okarche, Oklahoma.

Helen was a loving wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, and will be greatly missed.

Helen graduated from St. Mary's Nursing School in 1946, Enid, and worked as a nurse before the birth of her children. She volunteered as the school nurse and for many other activities, including over 30 years of service at St. Mary's Hospital.

She was also very active at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, particularly in Altar Society and Study Club. She will always be known for her sense of humor and love of family.

Helen loved crossword puzzles and playing cards and other games. They took many memorable family vacations. After retirement, Bob and Helen spent years traveling across the country and to Europe.

Helen is preceded in death by her parents and her brother.

She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Bob; her children, Gary and Liz Romine, of Wentzville, MO; Janis and Ted Jones of Oklahoma City; Elisa Norred of Tulsa; and Deann Romine of Oklahoma city; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; as well as three sisters.

A funeral service to remember Helen is 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 31, 2018, at the Vondel Smith North Colonial Chapel, 13125 N. MacArthur Blvd. Oklahoma City.

Burial follows at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 31, 2018, at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Enid, Oklahoma.

October 14, 1923 - October 10, 2018

Bob Dean Romine, 94, Oklahoma City, formerly of Enid, was born October 14, 1923, in Breckenridge, the son of Carl E. and Edna M. (Mauk) Romine. He completed this life on October 10, 2018, surrounded by his family.

Bob was a loving husband, son, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. He will be deeply missed.

Bob graduated as Salutatorian from Ames High School. He excelled in many sports and played piano at Ames Baptist Church.

He served his country during World War II and was at the Allied invasion of France at Utah Beach. After being honorably discharged as a three-striped sergeant, he returned to Enid and began his career in accounting.

He was a partner at the Romine and Thomas public accounting firm, from which he retired after more than 35 years.

Bob married the love of his life, Helen Ann Gales, on June 16, 1949. They made their home in Enid where they were active members of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Bob and Helen took many memorable family vacations, including a 50th anniversary trip to Colorado Springs with all of their children and grandchildren.

After retirement, Bob enjoyed gardening, volunteer work at the Horn of Plenty, and playing games with family and friends. They also spent years traveling across the country and Europe.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, and by Helen, on August 28th of this year, after being married 69 years.

He is survived by his children, Gary and Liz Romine, of Wentzville, MO; Janis and Ted Jones of Oklahoma City; Elisa Norred of Tulsa; and Deann Romine of Oklahoma City; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and his sister, Ruth Ann Hammond of Enid.

A funeral service to remember Bob is 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 12, 2018, at the Vondel Smith North Colonial Chapel, 13125 N. MacArthur Blvd. Oklahoma City. Burial follows at 2:00 p.m. at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Enid, Oklahoma.
