ENID, Okla. — Mass of Christian burial for Henrietta Novy, of Covington, Okla., will be noon Saturday, Feb, 8, 2014, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, with the Rev. Joseph Irwin officiating. Recitation of the Rosary will be 11 a.m., preceding the Mass. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, with arrangements by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.

Henrietta was born to Albert and Bessie (Fuxa) Severin on Sept. 5, 1926, in Goltry, Okla., and went to Heaven on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, in Crescent, Okla.

Henrietta grew up southeast of Enid and graduated from Pioneer High School.

On Sept. 25, 1946, she married Edward Novy, and they built their home and raised their family on a farm between Garber and Covington.

Henrietta and Ed co-founded the No. 1 Oklahoma Polka Club in 1977, and she served as secretary for many years. Ed and Henrietta were crowned Polka King and Queen in 1997.

She was active in 4-H, as a youth member, an adult leader and received a lifetime achievement award. Her children and grandchildren followed in her footsteps, being active in 4-H.

Henrietta was an amazing cinnamon roll baker, homemaker, polka dancer, Buck player and loved to spoil her grandkids and great-grandkids.

She was a reporter for Garber Free Press and Billings News. She wrote a column called Henpeckins’ by Henrietta.

Ed and Henrietta had the Ed Novy Polka Band, and she played the accordion. She would play the accordion whenever she was asked.

Henrietta is survived by her husband, Edward; three children, Carolyn Todd of Piedmont, Ken Novy and wife Patricia of Guthrie, and Arlene Bernard of San Antonio, Texas; six grandchildren, Shawn Koelsch of Choctaw, Amy Brown of Edmond, Angela Ray of San Antonio, Kathleen Ellis of Edmond, and Anitra Novy of Stillwater; two stepgrandchildren, Doug Todd of Piedmont and Donny Todd of Perkins; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Henry Severin and wife Cecilia of Garber; and other relatives.

The Mass of Christian Burial for Edward Novy, age 93, of Enid, formerly of Garber, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 6, 2016, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, with Rev. Aaron Foshee officiating. Recitation of the Rosary will be before the mass at 9 a.m., with Deacon Tony Crispo leading. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.

Ed was born to Edward and Bessie (Mrazek) Novy on May 19, 1923, in Banner, Oklahoma, and passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2016, in Enid. Ed grew up near El Reno, where he graduated from high school, and then attended El Reno Junior College. On September 25, 1946, Ed married Henrietta Angeline Severin at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Enid. They raised their family, consisting of three children, Carolyn, Kenneth and Arelene, on the farm between Garber and Covington.

Ed and Henrietta co-founded the #1 Polka Club in 1977 and were crowned King and Queen in 1997. They also had their own polka band, the "Ed Novy Polka Band," where he played the saxophone. Ed was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

Surviving are three children: Carolyn Todd, McCloud, OK, Kenneth and Patricia Novy, Perry, OK, and Arlene Bernard, San Antonio, Texas; six grandchildren, Shawn, Amy, Angela, Kathleen, Brandon, and Anitra; eleven great-grandchildren, Mason, Jack, Maggie, Isabella, Luke, Matthias, Laynie, Blake, Lyla, Kaplan, and Willow; two sisters, Rosella House, Hinton and Frances Lord, Oklahoma City; many nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Ed was preceded in death by his wife Henrietta (2/4/14); parents; brother George; sisters, Mildred, Bessie, and Mary Jane.
