Joseph McDevitt, 82, 509 N. 12th, died suddenly in his home Wednesday morning.

He was born in Donegal County, Ireland, and came to the United States in 1923. He had owned and operated gasoline stations in the eastern part of the U.S. And at the time of his retirement in 1960, owned a station in Jersey City, New Jersey. After retiring, he moved to Schenevus, New York, then to Enid in 1975.

McDevitt was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church, where his service will be at 10 AM Friday. The Rev. Marvin F. Leven will officiate and burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery, under the direction of the Henninger – Allen Funeral Home.

McDevitt is survived by a sister, Ellen Cantrill of the home; several nieces and nephews, including Joseph L. Barr, Enid.
