ENID, OK — Funeral mass and Christian burial for Anastasia “Ann” Markowicz will be noon Monday, April 7, 2014, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.

Burial will follow in Calvary Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

The Recitation of the Rosary will be 6 p.m. today, April 6, at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home, with visitation to follow.

Ann was born Oct. 21, 1924, in Stanislav, Poland, and died Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at the age of 89.

She survived the concentration camps of Auschwitz, Treblinka and Minsk during the Holocaust. She then married Francis Markowicz and immigrated to the United States via Ellis Island.

Ann became a naturalized citizen of the United States in 1956. She worked at St. Mary’s Hospital dietary department for 20 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her son, Frank Michael Markowicz.

Ann is survived by her daughter, Janice Markowicz of Enid.

Memorial contributions should be directed to Hospice Circle of Love or Our Daily Bread, with Ladusau-Evans acting as custodian.
