June 24, 1910 - June 1, 2000

Recitation of the Rosary for John B. Mack, 89 year old Enid resident was held Friday, June 2, 2000 at 8 PM in the Henninger – Allen Chapel with the Knights of Columbus leading the Rosary. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, June 3, 2000 at 10 AM at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Rev. Alan Loth officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Enid under the direction of Henninger – Allen Funeral Home.

John B. Mack was born June 24, 1910 in Bison, Oklahoma to Jacob and Mary Catherine (Shank) Mack and died June 1, 2000 in the Greenbrier Village Skilled Nursing Center at the age of 89 years. He grew up in Bison and graduated from St. Joseph's Catholic School in Enid. John flew a private plane and worked as an inspector for Vance Air Force Base during the war. He later worked for Champlin and worked for Hackney Iron & Steel as a purchasing agent from 1947 to 1982, when he retired. After his retirement, he continued to farm and raised cattle. In 1935, John married Rose M. Schneider and they made their home in Enid. She preceded him in death in 1958.

John was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, a 3rd and 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, men's club of St. Francis. He was a server and lecturer at masses and funeral masses until the last two or three years. He attended mass daily. On August 22, 1955, John received the Knight of the Order of Saint Gregory the Great from Pope Pius XII and later received the Benemerenti from Pope John Paul II.

He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; two sisters; and five brothers.

He is survived by one step daughter, Dolores Beddall of Port Angeles, Washington and several nieces and nephews.
