ENID - A memorial mass for Gerald Joseph Johnson, 84, of Enid, will be at 11 a.m., Monday, May 23, 2011, at St. Gregory Catholic Church, with the Rev. Larry Kowalski officiating. Recitation of the Rosary will be Sunday evening 7 p.m. at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Joe was born to Albert and Elizabeth (Wortman) Johnson on March 13, 1927, in West Point, Nebraska, and died on Thursday, May 19, in Enid.

On Jan. 17, 1950, Joe married Bernice Hunke in Monterey, Nebraska. They moved to Kansas in 1962, and later to Oklahoma. He was an owner and operator in the motel industry. Joe was a charter member of the St. Gregory Catholic Church, member of Knights of Columbus Council 1044, and a member of the Calvary Cemetery Board.

He is survived by his wife Bernice of the home; three daughters Nancy (Jim) Fitzpatrick of Oklahoma City, Mary (Steve) Walker of Waynoka, Joan (DeWayne) Benson of Edmond; three sons Jim (Sandy) Johnson of Weatherford, Dan Johnson of Waynoka, and Joe (Sharon) Johnson of Colorado Springs, Colo.; eleven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one brother Paul (Katherine) Johnson of Omaha, Neb.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Memorial may be made through the funeral home to Hospice Circle of Love. Condolences may be made at www.andersonburris.com.
