A Memorial Service for Mark Alan Hutchison, age 49, will be at 2:00 PM Sunday, June 10, 2012, at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel, with Robby Trammel officiating. Friends and family are invited to the Frisco Bar on Independence at noon Sunday to celebrate his life.

Mark was born to Melvin and Bess (Lunday) Hutchison on December 31, 1962, in Enid, and passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2012, in Oklahoma City.

Mark grew up in Enid and graduated from Enid High School in 1981. He then earned a Bachelors Degree in journalism from the University of Kansas in 1986. Mark worked for the Enid News & Eagle before joining The Oklahoman as a reporter in 1989. He worked his way up through the ranks, serving as a staff writer, chief of the Lawton bureau, assistant state editor, metro editor, and city editor. Mark enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his three daughters.

He is survived by three daughters, Brooke Hutchison, Brandi Hutchison and Bethany Hutchison, all of Oklahoma City ; two sisters, Kay Goldstein of Altus and Anne Gerszewski and husband Fran of Enid; two brothers, Brad Hutchison and wife Beverly of Oklahoma City, and James Hutchison and wife Sherry of Edmond; and several nieces and nephews.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials may be made to Hutchison Children Education Fund.
