The funeral for John Charles Glahn, of Enid will be 2 PM Friday, July 30 at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church with Reverend Larry Kowalski officiating. Burial will follow in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Enid, under the direction of Henninger - Allen Funeral Home. A wake service will be at 7 PM Thursday at Henninger - Allen Funeral Home.

He was born in Pond Creek, Oklahoma on March 28, 1919 the son of John C. Glahn and Leone B. Glahn and died Tuesday, July 27, 2004. He graduated from Jefferson high school in 1937 and from Enid Business College in 1940. Later in life he attended Phillips University. He started working for George E. Failing Company in 1940 starting in the Accounting Department. He held various positions and was production manager for many years until June 1986 when he retired. He was a veteran of WW II and the Korean Conflict where he served in Japan during 1951 as Assistant Adjutant General for the 45th Infantry Division. He was a member of the American Legion Post 4 in Enid, 45th Division Association, Air Force Association, VFW Post 10216, Knights of Columbus, and Gregory's Men's Club.

Upon retirement in 1986 he started his insurance agency covering life, health, and annuities products. He was a longtime member of Northwest Oklahoma Association of Life Underwriters now NWAIFA serving as president 1993 to 1994. Also a member of National Association Life Underwriters now NAFFA, Oklahoma Association Life Underwriters now OKAIEA, and Association Health Insurance Agents. He was also engaged in farming and oil and gas interests in Oklahoma.

He married June Alice Simkins on February 22, 1944 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in San Francisco. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on February 28, 2004. He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepmother Maude Glahn, and two sisters, Jeanne Cason and June Luella Smith. Survivors include his wife June and son David of the home, and another son John and wife Nancy of Joplin, Missouri, two daughters Caroll Ann Meisterling and husband Harold of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Vicki Hulet of Woodward. Three grandchildren, Heidi Meisterling and her husband Brent, Tucson, Arizona, Jason Glahn and Allison Glahn, Joplin, Missouri, two nephews Tom Kraus Jr., Pond Creek, Oklahoma and Gerald Kraus, Guam, and many cousins and friends. He was a kind and loving husband and father always available to help with problems when necessary.
