The funeral services for Charles Marvin "Bud" George, 83 year-old Jet resident, were Monday, July 7, 2003, at 2:00 PM, in the United Methodist Church in Jet, Oklahoma. The Rev. Faye Goode officiated. Burial followed in Calvary Cemetery in Enid. Charles Marvin "Bud" George died at the age of 83, July 4, 2003. He was born March 5, 1920, to Charles and Anna (Teeter) George. He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and a sister. He married Patricia Sarver, on August 21, 1942, in Enid, Oklahoma, where they made their home. In 1943, they moved to Jet and began farming with his father. In 1952, he also began a career with the First State Bank of Jet. After his retirement from banking, he continued to farm until he was past 70. They moved to Enid in 2001. He served his community by volunteering on the Jet Fire Department, the Jet Town Board and as Mayor of Jet. He was a lifetime member of the Future Farmers of America.

Music was part of his life from a very young age. He had a beautiful, expressive voice and sang at innumerable weddings, funerals and other functions. He loved the land and the outdoors. He was extremely proud of his 3 children and 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandsons. He was interested in their accomplishments and activities. Bud was known for his dry sense of humor, gentle spirit, and his willingness to help others.

He is survived by his wife, Patty; son, Mike and Marideth George, their children, Darren and Jill George, Jeff and Mika Dick and son, Caleb; daughter, Kermitt and Margaret Secord, their children, Chris Secord and Carl and Kathryn Mc Vay and son, Corbin; daughter, David and Teresa Deardeuff and sons, Dax and Cole Deardeuff. Memorials may be made to Muscular Dystrophy Association (ALS Division) or Dean-McGee Eye Institute (Macular Degeneration) with Henninger-Allen acting as custodians of the fund.
