Mrs. Paul J. (Cora Leota Hutchinson) Buthod, 82, 1423 W. Oklahoma, died suddenly Thursday night in a local hospital after being admitted January 19. Wake services will be at 7:30 PM Sunday in the Chapel of the Henninger – Allen Funeral Home.

Funeral Mass will be at 2 PM Monday in St. Francis Xavier Church with the Rev. Marvin F. Leven officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Mrs. Buthod was born January 22, 1897, three miles southeast of Carrier on the claim staked by her mother, Sarah Frances Shields, at the opening of the Cherokee Strip September 16, 1893.

She was a lifelong resident of this county and graduated from St. Joseph's Institute here, then taught in rural schools for 13 years. After graduating from Enid Business College she entered the real estate and insurance field. She retired in 1975, after 46 years, the last of these being with the Kenneth McGugin Agency.

Mrs. Buthod was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church, the Altar Society, Catholic Women's BPW, the Sons and Daughters of the Cherokee Strip Pioneers, Daughters of the Union Veterans of the Civil War and the Insurance Women.

She and Paul J. Buthod were married August 31, 1936. He died in December, 1966. She was also predeceased by two infant brothers.

Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Nick (Helen) Vilm, Enid; a niece, an aunt and several cousins.
