Recitation of the Rosary for Josephine "Jay" Abney, 74, will be 7 PM today, December 14, at Henninger – Allen Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass will be 10 AM Tuesday, December 15, at St. Francis Xavier Church with the Rev. Peter Ashurst officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Henninger – Allen Funeral Home.

Abney died Friday, December 11, 1992 at her home after a period of failing health.

Abney was born June 18, 1918 in New York City to Anthony and Antionette (Baldisano) Puleo. She married Ralph S. Abney on January 9, 1943, in New York City.

She moved to Enid in August 1978 and lived there since then. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, where she served as Eucharistic Minister. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters and attended Cursillo #18 in 1984. She was a server with the "Our Daily Bread" soup kitchen and worked at the RSVP as coordinator for the Senior Action Group for 5 years. She also was a Tupperware dealer since 1988.

Survivors include one son, Ralph Abney Jr. of Puerto Rico; two daughters, Jae Annette Harrison of Enid and Linda Sue Faulkner of Chickasha; one brother, Jerry Puleo of Kentucky; four sisters, Mae Muhlithaler of Kentucky; Lorraine Michalik of Warren, Michigan, Annette Scianno of New York City and Francis Foley of Albuquerque, New Mexico; 12 grandchildren including Susie Hinkle of Enid, and 12 great – grandchildren.
