June 14, 1929 - August 8, 2019

Mass of Christian Burial for Bernice Johnson will be Tuesday, August 13, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. in St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, with Reverend Mark Mason as celebrant. Inurnment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Enid, under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory.

Bernice was born on June 14, 1929, in West Point, Nebraska, to Henry and Theresa Hunke and died on August 8, 2019, in Oklahoma City with her children by her side.

She graduated from St. Boniface Catholic Grade School in Monterey, Nebraska, and Guardian Angel Catholic High School in West Point, Nebraska. Bernice married G. Joe Johnson on January 17, 1950, in St. Boniface Catholic Church in Monterey, and they made their home in Nebraska, farming. They moved to Kansas in 1962 and later to Oklahoma. They owned and operated motels. Bernice was a chartered member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, Enid. She was a member of the Altar Society.

Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, Joe; son, Dan; parents; two brothers; and one sister.

She is survived by her children, Nancy (Jim) Fitzpatrick, Oklahoma City, Jim (Sandy) Johnson, Edmond, Mary (Steve) Walker, Waynoka, Joan (DeWayne) Benson, Edmond, Joe (Sharon) Johnson, Colorado Springs, CO; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Marie Kampschneider, Camella Schlautman, Luetta Evert; nieces; nephews; and other relatives.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to St. Gregory's Altar Society. Condolences may be made online at www.andersonburris.com.
