Mass of Christian burial for Cpl. Joshua A. Hume, 22-year-old San Antonio resident, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Rev. Rajesh K. Mankena will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Catholic Cemetery with full military honors under direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home. Recitation of the Rosary will be 6:30 p.m. today at Henninger-Hinson Chapel. Father Ken Harder will lead.

Joshua was born Feb. 8, 1989, in Kileen, Texas, to Mike and Anna (Boyette) Hume and died Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011, at Fort Sam Houston. He attended local schools and graduated from Stillwater High School in 2007. He attended Mid American Christian University on a soccer scholarship. He then attended Oklahoma State University. He enlisted in the United States Army in March 2009. On Feb. 17, 2010, he married Natalie Mueggenborg on the beach in Monterrey, Calif. To this union one child was born, a daughter Kailee. He attended DLI in Monterrey, Calif., where he studied Arabic, graduating first in his class in 2010. He then went to AIT at Goodfellow AFB in San Angelo, Texas. After becoming ill he was transferred to the WTU at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. He was an avid soccer player and fan and enjoyed coaching children. He wanted to give back to children. But mostly he loved his family, especially his daughter Kailee.

He is survived by his wife, Natalie and daughter Kailee, both of Stillwater; parents, Mike and Anna Hume of Stillwater; brothers, Michael Jr. and Eric Hume of Stillwater; his grandmother, Joan Boyette of Stillwater; grandfather, Clyde Boyette of North Carolina; and numerous extended family. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joyce and Bill Hume.
