Joseph Clarence "J.C." FEIST

Calvary Catholic Cemetery

Joseph "J.C." Feist, 78, passed away after a long illness with Alzheimer's disease on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, at Live Oak Nursing Center in George West, Texas. He was born Feb. 3, 1935, to Frank Feist and Catherine (Koehler) Feist on the family homestead near Manchester, Okla. A private Rosary and funeral mass was held Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, at St. George Catholic Church in George West, Texas, with burial following. He lived on the family farm and attended Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School until he moved to Shawnee, Okla., his freshman year to attend St. Gregory's High School. After graduating he attended Kendrick Seminary in St. Louis, Mo., until returning to Manchester, where he owned and operated the Wakita Pool Hall and farmed.

He married Mary Jo Waner Feb. 27, 1965, at St. Patrick's Church in Florence, Kan. They were happily married for almost 49 years. J.C. and Mary Jo were blessed with three children and 10 grandchildren.

Their children are daughter, Therese and husband Jamie Huston of Enid, Okla., and their children Grayson, Mary, Levi, Gus and John Paul; son, Joe and wife Loretta of George West, Texas, and their children Joseph, Emily, Garrett, Audrey and Laura; and son, Frank Feist of Tulsa, Okla.

J.C. and Mary Jo lived and raised their family on the farm across the road from where he was born and raised. Together, he and Mary Jo farmed while also raising cattle.

They also owned and operated J.C Feist Sales, which included custom spraying, a Melroe Spra-Coupe Dealership, farm machinery, used cars, trucks, airplanes, chemicals and fertilizer.

J.C. had several interests he enjoyed and made a part of his life. These included flying his J3 Cub and Cessna Cardinal.

He loved attending auctions of any kind. He loved to visit with people, from those he had known forever to those who were total strangers, but especially those in the nursing home or hospital.

One of his favorite places to go early in the morning was the local coffee shop.

J.C. was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Wakita, where he was active throughout his life. He served on the Wakita School Board for a number of years, and also served several years as a director on the board of KanOkla Networks.

Upon their retirement in 2008, J.C. and Mary Jo moved to Enid, Okla., where they were members of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.

J.C. was eventually cared for in George West, Texas, at Live Oak Nursing Center until his death.

J.C. will be remembered as having a joy for life and love of people.

Although he didn't play or have a passion for sports himself, he never missed any of his children's or grandchildren's sporting events or other extracurricular activities.

His passion for his family was evident in the joy he found in the time he spent with his wife and children, and in playing with grandchildren. His endearing legacy of love and faith will live on in each of them.

J.C. had five brothers and three sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents; Mary Jo's parents, Robert and Annie Waner; one granddaughter, Mary; one brother; one sister; three sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law; two nephews; and one niece.

Memorials may be made to Our Daily Bread in Enid or St. George Catholic Church or Live Oak Nursing Center, in George West, Texas.

The family of J.C. would like to express their gratitude for your many kind expressions of sympathy, prayers and excellent care. They are deeply appreciated.
