Calvary Catholic Cemetery



The mass of Christian burial for Joseph B. Engel, 52 year-old Enid resident will be Friday, May 10, 2013 in at 2:00PM in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. The Rev. Joseph Irwin will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home. Recitation of the Rosary will be this evening at 7:00PM in the Henninger-Hinson Chapel. Deacon Tony Crispo will lead.

Joseph was born May 16, 1960 in Goodland , Kansas to Sylvester and Josephine (Garcia ) Engel and died Sunday, May 5, 2013 in Enid. He attended Sacred Heart Schools in Salina, KS. He enlisted in the United States Army and did his basic training at Fort Knox in Kentucky.

In his early working life he traveled the country as a truck driver and later worked as a mover for several moving companies. He was a volunteer for numerous charities, including Our Daily Bread and Hope Outreach. He was an avid fisherman but mostly loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his Mother Josephine Heimann, of Enid. Father Sylvester Engel, of Salina, Kansas, three sisters; Patty Mack, of Enid, Joyce Engel-Sanchez, of Lee Summit, MO. and Stacy Hagenbuch and husband Lyle, of Lawrence, Kansas. One niece, Heather, four nephews, Jeremy, Andrew and wife Lilya, Alec, and Jake, and also two great-nephews, Dominic and Jake.

He was preceded in death by his brother Raymond and step-father Bob.

Memorials may be made to either Our Daily Bread or Hope Outreach.
