© Enid Events Enid, Oklahoma Thursday, February 6, 1896 July 20, 1872 ~ January 31, 1896 Our community was greatly surprised last Friday to learn of the untimely death of Mrs Allie Sketchley who, after a very short illness, passed away Friday morning, January 31st at 8 o'clock of pneumonia. She leaves a husband, two children, A girl abd boy, and a host of friends to mourn her loss. Funeral services were held at the house four miles south east of Garber. Rev R. W. Hurt officiated. After a very affecting discourse the strickened relatives and friends, many of whom were unable to get inside the house, wended their way to the Baldwin cemetery and laid to rest the last remains of Mrs Sketchley. Mr Sketchley and family are from Iowa and have lived on their claim since December 15th, 1898, and were highlt esteemed by all who knew them. About four months ago they buried an infant son; since when Mr Sketchley was confined to the bed for six weeks with malarial fever. She was a Christian lady and has gone to join her babe in a better world. She was 23 years, 6 months and 11 days old. |
