Died May 17, 1984 in Shattuck, Ellis Co., OK

Charlotte “Lottie” Batt was born Nov 18, 1889 in Volga, Russia to Georg and Anna Marie (Baum) Batt. As an infant with her parents, she immigrated to the U.S. arriving Sept. 10, 1890 in Philadelphia. The family settled in Clear Creek Twp., Marion Co., KS and then Center Twp. before 1900. In 1906 they emigrated to Shattuck, Ellis, OK.

In 1908 Lottie married David Schick and they lived with David's parents for seven years. During this time three of their children were born: Samuel, Manuel and Walter. In 1915 David and Lottie moved to school land, one mile south of the homestead, which David had purchased from his father. David was killed in 1916 when his wagon was hit by a train. Lottie was expecting their fourth child, David, at the time.

In 1918, her brother-in-law Fred Schick lost his wife Mary due to influenza. They had four children. In 1919, Fred & Lottie married. Fred and Lottie had three more children: Rollen, Irene, and Esther. Fred was killed in 1944 in a tractor accident. Lottie moved to town in 1957.

Lottie joined the Ebenezer church in 1909 and attended faithfully until unable to due to health reasons. She died May 17, 1984. Funeral services were held in the Ebenezer Baptist Church with Rev. Fred Fuchs officiating. She is buried in Ebenezer Baptist Cemetery aka German Baptist Cemetery Sec. 22 Twp 20 R 26 which is 5 miles south of Shattuck, 4 miles west and 1/2 mile south.
