DOUG MCNEILL

February 20, 1943 - November 09, 2017

Douglas McAuther McNeill, 74 year old Vici resident, passed from this life on November 9th, 2017. Douglas was born to Omer and Mattie McNeill on February 20th, 1943 in Snyder, Oklahoma. Douglas and his parents lived in Snyder and Roosevelt Oklahoma until Douglas was 17 years old. During this period Douglas attended grade school at Roosevelt. In 1950, Douglas was baptized into the Baptist Church of Roosevelt. On February 4th, 1961, Douglas married Susie Louise McNeill in Vernon, Texas. To this union was blessed two sons, Mitchell and Donny McNeill.

While living in Cooperton, OK, Doug hired out to local farmers and ranchers. Doug then landed a job with Allen Construction running heavy equipment, building highways and interstate from Mississippi to Western Oklahoma. After completing the section of I-40 in Sayre, OK, Doug found work with Dale E. Johnson Dozers in Woodward, OK. After working there for a couple of years, Doug had found his calling in dirt work. In 1971 he moved the family to Vici, OK where he started McNeill Construction Inc. doing soil conservation work in the area. From there he started working in the oil field building drilling sites. Doug built one of the largest businesses in the area at the time, hiring several local employees who to this day he still considers his closest friends.

Doug owned several pieces of machinery, buying enough from Caterpillar to become a CAT VIP and tour the Caterpillar Factory in Peoria, Il. Doug was the Top Construction Contractor of the Year for TXO Oil and Gas in 1983.

Doug had another passion which was flying. Doug had a single and multi-engine fixed wing Pilot’s License along with a Roto Craft rating. Doug owned 3 airplanes and a helicopter and he loved to fly taking people up that wanted to go. One of Doug’s friends, John Cleveland helped keep the planes busy flying people wherever they needed to go.

Doug loved life and had fun while living his life. Doug also had a passion for animals; he loved his horses and mules, especially while pulling his wagon. He raised buffalo, cattle, and race horses while he farmed and ranched.

On December 31st, 2004 Doug married Doris Mae Huckins and welcomed Weldon Rector, Coty Rector, Rachel Clark, Dallas Rector and Kande Boswell into the family. Doug and Doris became inseparable- when you saw one, the other was always there. Doris was Doug’s rock and he took her everywhere he went- whether she wanted to go or not. He loved all of his children and grandchildren. His biggest enjoyment with his children was the hunting season when everyone gathered at Doug and Doris’s home to plan the day of hunting and give Momma Doris their ideas on what she could cook for lunch and supper. Doug loved fishing with the younger grandchildren. He loved everything about family and the outdoors.

Douglas was a member of the Vici Masonic Lodge 465, Shriners, Lions Club, and was a donor to many more organizations. He was the Worshipful Master in the lodge, held a Perpetual Membership with the lodge, and held a 30 Year Pin for the Shriners. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Vici. He helped in many community fund raisers, and was always willing to help anyone in need. Doug had many friends throughout the area and would do anything he could to help them.

Douglas was preceded in death by his parents Omer and Mattie McNeil; brothers Albert and Samuel McNeill; and sister Betty Marlyn McNeill.

He is survived by his wife Doris Mae McNeill of Vici; children Mitchell McNeill and wife Joannie of Vici, OK; Donny McNeill and wife Athena of Ardmore, OK; Weldon Rector and wife Margie of Talequah, OK; Coty Rector and wife Rhonda of Vici, OK; Rachael Clark and husband Kevin of Camargo, OK; Dallas Rector and wife Ann Marie of Vici, OK; and Kande Boswell and husband Shawn of Vici, OK; sisters June Lewis of El Dorado, OK; and Eve McNeill of Dallas, Texas; 6 nieces; 4 nephews; 28 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and many more friends and loved ones.
