Donald Allen Lenhart

Donald Allen Lenhart, 73-year-old Freedom, Oklahoma, resident, passed from this life on November 9, 2021. He was born on August 23, 1948, in Alva, Oklahoma, to Glen Allen and Virginia Burnell (Myers) Lenhart. The family lived in many towns during his childhood due to his parents being school teachers. Donald attended grade school at Waynoka Public Schools and high school at Vici Public Schools where he graduated with the class of 1966. After graduation he went to Northwestern Oklahoma State University and Oklahoma State University colleges for a year.

On October 28, 1966, Donald married the love of his life, Reia Young, in Vici, Oklahoma. To this union three beautiful daughters were born, Stephanie, Teresa and Melissa. The family lived in Alva, Friona, Texas, Hereford, Texas, Medicine Lodge, Kansas, Wellington, Kansas, Canyon, Texas, Gage, Oklahoma, and Waynoka, Oklahoma, before settling in Freedom. Donald was a dispatcher for Santa Fe Railroad until his retirement. He also owned and operated numerous successful businesses.

Donald had a true passion with helping his girls and other children with their show cattle, pigs and goats. He received the Honorary Member award from both the Waynoka and Freedom FFA chapters. He enjoyed hunting, his bird dogs and raising goats. Donald loved spending time with his family. He was a member of the Waynoka Christian Church and was baptized in the Christian Church during his childhood.

Donald is preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Virginia Lenhart, his brother, Jere Lenhart and his sister Barbara (Babs) Parry.

He is survived by his wife, Reia Lenhart, of the home; daughters, Stephanie Gillenwaters and husband Duane of Mooreland, Oklahoma, Teresa Wares of Freedom, and Melissa Headlee and husband Chris of Alva; six grandchildren, Jacy and Tala Gillenwaters of Mooreland; Dasan Gillenwaters and wife Robyn of Stratford, Texas, Harley Wares of Buffalo, Oklahoma; and Jaxon and Rylen Headlee of Alva; two great grandchildren, Boady and Bently Gillenwaters of Stratford, Texas; a sister, Peggy Beigler and husband Bob of Elgin, brother-in-law, Harlow Parry of Vici; niece, Tiffani Ford and husband Stephen and their children of Elgin; three nephews, Matt Parry and wife Cindy and their children of Vici; Scott Parry and wife Ranae and their children of Camargo, Oklahoma; and Joe Parry of Okarche, Oklahoma; other family and a host of friends.

Memorials may be made to the Freedom Fire and Ambulance in care of Shaw Funeral Home, P.O. Box 276, Vici, OK 73859.

Memorial graveside services were held Friday, November 12, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Sunnyside Cemetery in Vici. Condolences may be made to the family at shawfuneralhome.net.
