Verlin Day, 78 year old resident of Vici, OK, died December 14, 2013 in Oklahoma City, OK following a lengthy illness. Verlin, also known as Boots or Boley, to his many friends, was born on August 9, 1935 in Camargo, OK to Jimmie & Mildred Day. He was one of seven children. Verlin attended Camargo High School graduating with the Class of 1953. Verlin joined the United States Army, where he served 18 months in Germany. In 1957, he met Wilma Lynes and they were married on November 17, 1958. They remained married until his passing, totaling 55 wonderful years. To this union 3 children were added, Robert, Sonya and Jim and 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Verlin and Wilma were baptized together in Oklahoma City on December 11, 2013. Verlin worked most of his life operating heavy equipment building ponds and terraces in the Vici area, insisting on lifetime fishing rights on any ponds he built. He retired in 2011. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with family and friends. He was an avid reader and had studied the Bible by reading it all the way through. He loved animals and was always known to have a faithful canine companion with him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jimmie Gail Day. He is survived by his wife, Wilma of the home, his children and their families: Robert Day and wife Cindy of Alvarado, Texas, Sonya Key and husband Melvin of Enid, Oklahoma and Jim Day of Moore, Oklahoma; 5 grandchildren, Melvin Key Jr. and wife Samantha of Midwest City, Oklahoma, Chase Key and wife Karen of Enid, Oklahoma and Ray, Roman and Roby Day of Alvarado, Texas. He is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren, Scarlett, Chasten, Wyatt, Bailey and Emery.

He is survived by 1 brother, Ray Day of Camargo, Oklahoma and 4 sisters, Ileta Allen of Vici, Oklahoma, Arlene Mercer of Kingfisher, Oklahoma, Linda Newton of Trezevant, Tennessee and Kay Salisbury of Cheyenne, Oklahoma and many more family and friends. Funeral services were held on Wednesday December 18, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the First Christian Church, Vici, Oklahoma with interment following in Sunnyside Cemetery, Vici, Oklahoma.
