WAYNE JAY COLEMAN

May 03, 1926 - July 19, 2017

Wayne Jay Coleman (b. May 3, 1926 - d. July 19, 2017) was the son of Clyde George and Fleety May Coleman. Born five miles east and a quarter mile south of Vici, OK. Wayne was the fourth child born out of twelve. He attended Kaiser Creek school until the 8th grade. He was baptized into the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn by Bro. Roy Covington on October 1, 1948 in Delta, CO. Wayne was drafted into the U.S. Army on January 1, 1949, serving as a cook until January 6, 1950. Wayne was recalled into the Army during the Korean Conflict; and served until November 25, 1951. He married Patsy Jean Covington on June 22, 1949, and to this union was born Michael Wayne, Terry Allen, Rebecca Jo, Gayle Gentry and Dana Lynn (who died shortly after birth). After the Korean Conflict, he worked during the day at Townley’s Dairy while attending Central Oklahoma University at night attaining an Associate’s Degree in Electronics. On June 27, 1969, he married Velma Delphene Goodman and he welcomed Ercella Rose, Randy Gene and Reine Delmora into the family.

Wayne was the owner and operator of Vici Plumbing. He loved to travel, often journeying to see loved ones and landmarks. He particularly enjoyed Colorado, even building a cabin in Del Norte using it as a summer home. Tractors were another passion to him, and he enjoyed riding his tractors in parades.

Wayne died on July 19, 2017, surrounded by loved ones. He was preceded in death by parents Clyde and Fleety, four brothers, Chet, Henry, Glen, and Hub; six sisters, Ellen, Irene, Leola, Verla Jean, Hazel, and Dolly; wives Patsy Coleman and Delphene Coleman; infant daughter Dana Lynn; and Grandchildren Brittanie Molloy and Brad Fick.

Wayne is survived by brother Herman and Sharyon Coleman, son Michael and Nancy Coleman, son Terry and Cathy Coleman, daughter Rebecca and Jack Fick, daughter Gayle and Randall Wright, daughter Ercella Kinnamon, son Randy and Pamela Goodman, son Reine and Coletta Goodman, eighteen grandchildren, thirty-eight great grandchildren, eleven great-great grandchildren, and a host of friends and loved ones.
