Jose Verardo Arguello, 66 year old resident of Vici, Oklahoma, met his beloved Savior, Jesus, on May 21, 2014. He was the 5th of 14 children born to Ciriaco and Eloisa (Baca) Arguello on November 7, 1947, in San Miguel, New Mexico. Joe started his schooling years in the Ribera Public School system, attended one year at Villanueva, then finished at Robertson High School in Las Vegas, New Mexico, graduating with the class of 1965. He then went to work as a firefighter, traveling to many states working with the National Forestry Service. He moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, in 1972, and worked as a heavy equipment operator. He then went to work as a welder at the Albuquerque Air Force Base, enjoying the job until he retired.

Joe attended the North Valley Gospel Church, serving in many capacities in the Spanish ministry. Joe loved his Heavenly Father and leaned on Him for guidance and wisdom and was always sharing Godly advice with friends and family and wanted all to know they could have salvation with his Lord Jesus. Joe enjoyed fishing, camping, playing guitar, writing, and especially reading the Bible. He liked to cook and was good at it too. His enjoyment for cooking came from his mother who always had the adobe espensa full of her canned fruits and vegetables and dried meats that she would share with him and his siblings when they came to visit. He would call “mama” and ask for her recipes and was famous for his delicious tortillas! Joe was a loving father, brother and friend and loved sharing funny stories and jokes with all. He had a memorable laugh that will be greatly missed.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents Ciriaco and Eloisa, young siblings George, Eufelia and Juanita.

He is survived by three daughters Tara Arrey and husband Aaron of Albuquerque, NM, Kimberly DeVon and husband Michael of Vici, OK, and Stacey Arguello and husband Ariel Arrey of Woodward, OK; one son Jared Arguello and wife Keressa of Vici, OK; sisters Bennye Perea and husband Teddy of Albuquerque, NM, Sally Arguello of Denver, CO, Terri Arguello of Wichita, KS, Frances Garcia and husband Naberto of Sena, NM, Maryann Martinez of Denver, CO, Mable Arguello Vasquez and husband Mario of Las Vegas, NM, and Roberta Arguello of Santa Fe, NM; brothers George and wife Maryann of Tucumcari, NM, Anthony and Gilbert both of Ribera, NM; fifteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; many aunts, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
