CHARLEY JIM COLE, passed away on March 23, 2016 at the age of 86 years, 2 months, and 21 days. Charley Jim was born on January 2, 1930 in Webb, Oklahoma to Charley Henry and Minnie Bundle (McGettrick) Cole.

Charley served in the United States Army from June 1948 to April 1952. He received two purple hearts when he was wounded in Korea. In addition, he also received the Army Occupation medal (Japan), Korean Service medal with four bronze service stars, combat infantry badge, and a distinguished unit citation. During his time in service, he rose from the rank of Private to Sargent First Class when he was honorable discharged. After the military, Charley Jim moved to Putnam, Oklahoma to live with his Uncle Bill, Aunt Bess, and their four children, Billie Page, J.W. “Dub”, Sue, and Den. Charley left Oklahoma in 1954 to live in Texas where he worked as a supervisor and foreman for Lubrizol. However, he always considered Oklahoma his home.

Charley Jim had been a member of V.F.W. and the American Legion. Before his passing, he authored a book of his wartime memories of the Korean Conflict titled: Man of My Caliber.

Charley is preceded in death by his father Charlie Henry Cole, mother Minnie Bundle Cole, a sister, and a granddaughter. Left to carry on his legacy are his four children, Connie Thomison, Cindy Broadbent, Carla Heningman, and Mark Cole, seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren with one more on the way, and two great-great-grandchildren, as well as several cousins that were close to his heart, many other relatives, and a lifetime of friends.

Visitation will be held at Redinger Funeral Home of Seiling on Tuesday March 29, 2016

Funeral Services will be held at the Redinger Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 with David Beck presiding. Burial will follow in Raymond Cemetery, Lenore, OK with the Fort Sill Honor Guard performing military rites. The children of Charley Jim Cole have entrusted his care, services, and burial to director Luke Faires and the staff of Redinger Funeral Home.
