Edith Geraldine “Jeri” (Francis) Johnson went to be with her Lord November 8, 2014. She lived a full and blessed life of 94 years. Born May 22,1920, in Cordell, OK, to Earl & Lois Francis she was the first born of three children. As a young girl living during the depression and dust bowl days, she was definitely prepared for the challenges of raising a family on a farm.

While visiting her Aunt Jewel and Uncle Homer Irving on their farm near Oakwood, she met the love of her life Ray Johnson. Ray was working on a harvest crew on her uncle's farm and was the youngest son from the nearby farm of Blackberry Johnson. She attended high school in Oakwood and was married in 1939. Throughout their marriage of 74 yrs. & 10 mo. they lived on the family farm SE of Oakwood. She was blessed with four wonderful children, Bobby, Jimmy, Joanne and Gary all of whom graduated from Oakwood school. Jeri dearly loved being with family. Her delight in life was to host family events. Family meals, games and snacks were wonderful times for her. Some of her antics while playing dominoes with grandkids, earned her the loving nickname of "cheatin granny".

Jeri was baptized as a teenager and continued as a faithful member of the Church of Christ. Church was always an important part of family life.

Later in life she enjoyed traveling, ceramics and oil painting. Quilting became one of her passions as the business J & J Quilting was established in 1993. Jeri and her daughter Joanne, the J & J's, were owners and operators.

She lived at Corn Heritage Living Facility in Weatherford, OK the last 10 months of her life. Although she could not speak, her cheerful, perky personality and antics to communicate, gave such a lift to all family visitors and the staff who cared for her. She is preceded in death by her parents Earl and Lois Francis, sister Margaret Riggins, and grandson Benjamin Johnson. She is survived by her husband, Ray, of the home, four children, Bobby Johnson and wife Charlotte of Stillwater, OK, Jim Johnson of Enid, OK, Joann Johnson of Oakwood, OK, Gary Johnson and wife Emalee of Stillwater, OK. Nine grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grand son due in January and her brother Charles Francis and wife Dee of Orlando, FL. She also has several living nieces, a nephew and numerous cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 14, 2014 at the Oakwood Auditorium with Minister Rod Minor officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Haigler-Pierce Funeral Home, Canton.

She is now in Heaven wanting all to know it is worth the journey! Condolences may be offered online at www.haiglerpierce.com.
