CHARLEY VERNON ARNOLD

25 Mar 1914 - 8 Nov 1999

WATONGA - The funeral for Charley Arnold, 85, will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Watonga Christian Church with the Rev. Jim Forrest officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Cemetery in Oakwood under direction of Wilkinson Mortuary of Watonga.

He was born March 25, 1914, at Oakwood to Arthur and Mary Jane Oyler Arnold and died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999. He lived in Oakwood and Watonga all his life and attended Oakwood schools. He farmed and ranched for 67 years in the area. He attended Pentecostal and Assembly of God churches in Oakwood.

On Dec. 24, 1931, he married Sadie Baird at Watonga. He owned and operated a café and dairy farm for 10 years and in 1966 he received a plaque from OSCC as "Farmer of the Year". He introduced coastal Bermuda grass in Blaine County.

He was a Master Mason in Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Sadie of the home; one son, Merle of Shawnee; one daughter, Gladys Culpepper of Lockhart, Texas ; one sister Leola Kolar of Watonga; five grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
