Ruby Leah (Hoffman) Evans
January 18, 1918 ~ December 1, 2022

Ruby Hoffman Evans was born January 18, 1918 on a farm west of Canton in Blaine County, to Jacob and Amelia (Schuber) Hoffman. She grew up on the farm west of Canton and attended Canton Schools.

She was employed at the Canton Telephone Exchange until she was united in marriage to Ben F. Evans on June 6, 1937 in the home of Bert and Susie Willis. They made their home on the family farm until moving to Canton in 1965. Ruby was a homemaker and helped with the farm operation. She was a member of the Canton Christian Church where she served as Sunday school teacher for many years. Ruby was a member of the Con 6 Dewey Co. Home Demonstration Club, the Iris Garden Club, the Canton Federated Garden Club and C.W.F. She loved to play bridge and travel with Ben.

Ruby is survived by one son, Jerry Evans of Canton, OK; six grandchildren; one step-grandchild; four great-grandsons and two great-granddaughters; one sister-in-law Laverle Hoffman; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ben Evans; one son, Tom Evans; six brothers and two sisters; one step-granddaughter Monica Wanzer.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, December 5, 2022 at the Canton Christian Church with Pastor Lucas White officiating. Interment will follow at Fountain Cemetery west of Canton under the direction of Pierce Funeral Home, Canton. Memorials may be made to the Canton Christian Church, the Canton Senior Citizens or to the donor’s choice with the funeral home serving as custodian at P.O. Box 36, Canton, OK 73724.
