GORDON DEAN WHITEMAN

August 17, 1953 - June 10, 2018

Gordon Dean Whiteman (Cheyenne Name: Háest?hena'h?ne or Many Kills) was born on August 17, 1953 in Clinton, OK to George and Ida Mae (Bullcoming) Whiteman. He passed from this life on June 10, 2018 at the age of 64 years, 9 months, and 24 days.

Gordon was married to Roberta Ann Whiteman in 1982. Gordon worked as a roughneck. In 2001, Gordon adopted Allison Littlecoyote traditionally after meeting her at a peyote meeting.

Gordon was always a well-known Cheyenne man and was respected as a roadman for his home chapter of the Native American Church at Seiling, OK. He also took part in the Cheyenne and Native American ceremonies. He enjoyed the Golden Oldies, listening to Peyote/Native American music, beading in his spare time, and enjoyed being around his family and grandchildren.

Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ida Mae Whiteman, and his wife Roberta Whiteman.

Left to carry his legacy are his siblings, Nathaniel “Sanskie” Whiteman and wife Patricia of Seiling, OK, Betty Dennison of Woodward, OK, George Whiteman of Seiling, and Florence Smith of Duluth, MN; daughter Allison and husband Albert Littleman of Hammon, OK; grandchildren Adreana Benton, Arianna Benton, Avery Littleman, and Axtun Littleman; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A traditional Cheyenne Wake will be held at the C-1 Building on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 7:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday June 15, 2018 at the Restoration Church in Seiling. Burial will follow at the Brumfield Cemetery.
