Robert Emerson Lovett

The graveside service for Robert Emerson Lovett, 91, of Huntsville, Ala., will be 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, in Brumfield Cemetery, Seiling. Pastor Rick Forthman will officiate. Arrangements are by Redinger Funeral Home, Seiling.

He was born Oct. 28, 1917, in Taloga to Claud and Jessie Emerson Lovett and died Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at his home.

He graduated from Taloga High School in 1936. He received his bachelors degree in mathematics from Southwestern Oklahoma State University.

He married Leota Titus Nov. 23, 1940. She died March 19, 2009.

He taught school for a short time in Longdale before moving to Boca Raton, Fla., and becoming a radar instructor. They moved to Biloxi, Miss., and he worked for civil service as a radar specialist. They moved to Huntsville, where he continued his work at Redstone Arsenal. He retired in July 1978 after working 36 years as a specialist in radar, electronics and missiles.

Surviving are one daughter, Sandra Lovett Berg, of Huntsville; two sisters, Ruth Hargis of Mutual and Lila Holloway of Denver; three grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
