VETA PAULINE GILCHRIST

August 04, 1930 - December 08, 2017

Veta Pauline Gilchrist, of Seiling, passed from this life on December 8, 2017 at the age of 87 years, 4 months, and 4 days. She was born to John Nelson and Mabel Ethel (Glover) Yadon on August 4, 1930 in Rolla, KS. She grew up in Kansas until the 8th grade when the family moved to Seiling, OK. She graduated from Seiling High School with the Class of 1948. On July 8, 1951, she married the love of her life Donald Adair Gilchrist, and to this union one child, Gary Don Gilchrist was born. Veta worked at the Dewey County Courthouse and the Seiling Bank before starting her own business: Stardust Antiques which she ran from 2000-2012. Her favorite part of the shop was visiting with all her customers. She was also a member of the First Christian Church where she taught Sunday School. After retiring she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents Nelson and Mabel Yadon; Veta was preceded in death by her brothers Norman, Marion, John, and Don Yadon; and two sisters Louise Steward and Martha Johnson.

Survivors include her son Gary Gilchrist and wife Sharon of Seiling; grandchildren Cary Gilchrist and wife Katie of Seiling and Brandy Lee Jones and husband Michael of Chester; four great grandchildren Hannah, Kara, and Leah Gilchrist, and Leland Jones; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on TUESDAY, DECEMBER 12, 2017 at the Brumfield Cemetery with Pastor Orville White presiding.

Memorial Donations may be made to the Brumfield Cemetery with Redinger Funeral Home (Box 236, Seiling, OK 73663) serving as custodian of the funds.
