Norman R. Burns, 81, of Woodward, passed from this life on April 5, 2020. He was born to William “Clyde” and Iva (Glover) Burns on July 29, 1938 in rural Palo Pinto County, TX. He was raised near Mineral Wells, TX.

On November 5, 1957, Norman married the love of his life Carol Bernadine (Cook) in Seiling, OK. Together the couple raised four children in Woodward County: Deb, Berney, Diana, and Buddy. Norman worked as a truck driver, but his real passion was spending time with his family, especially going fishing. He was also fond of card games, especially In Between.

Norman is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Iva Burns, his wife of 57 years, Carol Burns, three brothers, Jimmy Dale, Raymond, and Jack Burns, and a sister Ruth Garrison.

He is survived by his children Deb Bryant and wife Lenore of Phoenix, AZ, Berney Burns of Oklahoma City, Diana Mabrey of Woodward, OK, and Buddy Burns and wife Annette of Woodward; two brothers, Roger Burns (Sue) and Paul Burns (Cheryl) both of Mineral Wells, TX; a sister Romona Evans of Mineral Wells; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and lots of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A private family graveside will be held at the Brumfield Cemetery on Thursday, April 9, 2020.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Cancer Society with Redinger Funeral Home (Box 236, Seiling, OK 73663) serving as custodian of the funds.
