Raymond Junior Branstetter

ENID - The funeral for Raymond Junior Branstetter, 88, will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 22, 2010, at Redinger Funeral Home Chapel, Seiling. Pastor Orville White will officiate. Burial will be in Brumfield Cemetery , Seiling.

He was born Sept. 16, 1921, in Arnett to Raymond Earl and Ada Virginia Woods Branstetter and died Sunday, April 18, 2010, at Cushing Regional Hospital.

He spent his early years in Ellis County, later moving to Chester . He graduated from Seiling High School in 1940.

He married Lucille Virginia Louthan Jan. 1, 1942, in Taloga. They made their home in Chester .

He entered the Army in November 1942, serving during World War II in the 42nd Rainbow Division and the 222nd Infantry Anti-Tank Division in the European Theater. He was stationed in Dachau, Germany, Austria and France. He was honorably discharged in 1946.

He returned to Chester , where they farmed and ranched and owned and operated Branstetter's Store. She died Jan. 10, 1985.

He married Mildred Irene Painton May 2, 1987, in Orion. They continued to live in Chester . She died Sept. 12, 2002. He later moved to Cushing.

He was a member of Seiling Friends Church, where he served on numerous boards and committees. He also was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and Major County Cattlemen's Association.

Surviving are two sons, Gary Branstetter of Cushing and Ron Branstetter of San Antonio, Texas; three stepdaughters, Dian Nichols of Fairview, Elaine Sander of Seiling and Janice Louthan of Weatherford; one sister, Virginia Gaylord of Oklahoma City; one brother, Lyndie Branstetter of Oklahoma City; seven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.

In addition to both wives, Lucille and Mildred, he was preceded in death by one brother.
