KAREN ELIZABETH GIFT BOUCHER

KAREN ELIZABETH BOUCHER, daughter of W. J. "Jim" and Modell (Anderson) Gift, was born March 8, 1947 at Mooreland, Oklahoma. She departed this life on Friday, February 1, 2013 at Mercy Health Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma following a sudden illness. She was 65 years of age.

Karen was raised on the family farm west of Seiling until her 16th birthday when the family moved into town. She attended Seiling School, graduating from high school with the class of 1965. Karen was active in sports and music. She was drum major of the band, as well as, a twirler. She furthered her education at Southwestern in Weatherford where she earned her bachelors degree. She completed her masters in education in 1974 at Southwestern. She received her administration degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1995. Karen began her teaching career teaching business and computers at Leedey, Taloga, Fargo, Ft. Supply and Ryan. In the late 1980's she taught at Northwestern in Alva.

Karen married DeWayne Day in 1965 at the First Christian Church in Seiling. They had two children, Rhonda Kristine and Matthew Wayne. In 1990, Karen married Lance "Skip" Boucher at Fairview. They currently made their home in Piedmont where Karen was employed as Vice President of Finance and Campus Services at Redlands Community College in El Reno, OK since 1998. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Seiling.

She is survived by her husband, Skip Boucher of Piedmont, her children, Kristi Hunter and husband Warren of Ft. Supply and Matt Day and wife Christina of Seiling, two step children, Travis Boucher of Oakwood and Angela Adams and husband Shawn of Fargo, twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren, her mother, Modell Gift of Seiling, her brother, Jim Gift and wife Virginia of Edmond and two nieces, Dina and Dawn and their families. She is also survived by many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Jim Gift Sr., November 19, 2007.

The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 4, 2013 at the Elm Grove Community Church with Pastors Dennis Adair and Orville White, officiating. Interment will be in the Brumfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Karen to a scholarship in her honor to the Seiling Public School with the Redinger Funeral Home - Box 236 - Seiling, OK 73663 serving as custodian of the funds.
