Dorothy Louise Kenedy, 68, of Salina, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, July 4, 2011 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was born on March 3, 1943 in Jay, Oklahoma, the daughter of James Solomon Morrison and Allie (Partain) Morrison. She married Carl Kenedy on January 17, 1959, a marriage that has stood the test of time for over 50 years.

She worked for Grand Valley Hospital from 1980 until retiring in 1993 after 15 years of service. Dorothy enjoyed sewing for her girls and spending time in her garden. She also enjoyed drawing and painting. She will be remembered for her wonderful cooking, a special way she showed love to her family and friends. She loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.

Dorothy leaves behind a legacy of a 50 year marriage, a wonderful dedicated mother and grandmother for her children to cherish and follow.

Graveside Services will be held to honor Dorothy on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the Welch Cemetery near Kenwood, Oklahoma with Reverend Lorne Beck officiating. Interment will be in the Welch Cemetery following services with John Scott, Darrin Budder, Herbert Heavener Jr., Richard Craighead, Andy Kerns and Tyler Myers serving as casket bearers.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, Carl Kenedy of the home; her son, Herbert and wife, Ruth Heavener Jr. of Kenwood, OK; her daughters, Carla and husband, Charles Adams of Spavinaw, OK, Barbara and husband, Jack Kerns of Kenwood, OK, Allie and husband, John Scott of Kenwood, OK and Nelda and husband, Darrin Budder also of Kenwood, OK; her sister, Gracie Dick of Jay, OK; grandchildren, Marla Craighead, Tasha Sitsler, Kaeti Myers, Andy Kerns, Tim Heavener, Dan Heavener, Laura Budder, Emerie Budder, Melanie Budder and Sondra McCutcheon; three great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Allie Morrison; her brothers, Leonard, Joseph, Clifford, Richard and Boyd Morrison; her sisters, Velma Leaf and Edna Morrison.
