Claude “Bear” Daugherty, Jr., lifetime Jay area resident, died Friday evening in a Joplin, Missouri hospital at the age of 56 years. Bear was born on November 2, 1954 in Claremore, Oklahoma to his parents, Claude Daugherty, Sr. and Juanita (Teehee) Daugherty.

He graduated from Jay High School in 1972, where he played football. Bear loved to go to flea markets, watch sports, especially OU football, and play Indian marbles.

Bear is preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Wesley. He is survived by his brothers, Bobby Lee, Marvin and wife Diane, Joe, and Dewayne and wife Sherri; three nieces; three nephews; two great-nephews; and many other loving relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM Wednesday March 30, 2011 at the Worley Luginbuel Funeral Home in Jay.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday March 31, 2011 at the Piney Baptist Church in Jay, with Reverend John Gonzales and Reverend Junior Jones officiating. Casket bearers will be William Chewey, Archie Cochran, Isaac Cochran, Tom Teehee, Jess Summerfield, and Phil King. Honorary Bearers will be Mike Tanner, Roy Tanner, Feryl Teehee, Areil Sharp, and Matthew Budder. Interment will be at O’Field Cemetery in Jay.

Services are entrusted to Worley Luginbuel Funeral Home of Jay. Family and Friends may view the obituary online and send condolences at www.honoringmemories.com.
