Karen Sue Hinton, 75, of Dewey, Oklahoma, passed away on Friday, May 30, 2025, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She had called Dewey home for the past seven years.

Born on August 17, 1949, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Karen was the daughter of William Rufus and Mildred Samantha (Applegate) Foreman. She graduated from Copan High School in 1967 and later earned her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Langston University in the 1990s. On June 11, 1971, Karen married Allan Hinton.

Karen dedicated her career to helping others as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor and Coordinator. She worked with organizations like Drug Corp, First Wings, Monarch, Women & Children in Crisis, Gateway, and the Cheyenne & Arapaho tribes. A significant achievement was her instrumental role in establishing the first inpatient drug and alcohol treatment for pregnant women in the early 1990s. She was recognized for her academic excellence on the Dean's Honor Roll and was published in Who's Who of America.

In her free time, Karen enjoyed crafting, puzzles, word searches, bingo, and a little gambling. She was known for her immense kindness and generosity, always willing to help. Karen loved Jesus and her family deeply, and her positive spirit was infectious. She was a constant source of joy and support, never speaking ill of anyone or showing anger.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Mildred Foreman; her son, Jared Hinton; her brothers, Ronald, Chester, and Wymann Foreman; her sisters, Barbara Rippetoe and Florence Allen; and her nephews, Loy Allen, Michael Foreman, and Rodney Spencer.

She is survived by her daughter, Nakia Hinton of Dewey, OK; her siblings, Marjorie Swanson of Dewey, OK, Lee Foreman (Wilma) of Bartlesville, OK, Sheryl Foreman of Dewey, OK, Tom Foreman (Lisa) of Copan, OK, and Belva Steiner (Lawrence) of Pryor, OK. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Jenna Hinton, James Hinton, Josh Hinton, and Jacob Hinton of Shawnee, OK, and Kiona and Erica Hail of Dewey, OK, along with many nieces, nephews, and eight great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at Fountain of Life Tabernacle in Dewey, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at Oaks Cemetery.
