Norma Louise Foreman, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Oaks, Oklahoma, on May 15, 2025, at the age of 98 years, 10 months, and 7 days. Born on July 8, 1926, in Lowery, Delaware County, Oklahoma, Norma was the daughter of Carl and Alene Fay (Phillips) Goedecke. She grew up in the Lowery community and attended school in Leach, Oklahoma, through the 8th grade before graduating from Oaks Mission High School in 1943.
Having known each other since elementary school, on November 11, 1944, Norma married the love of her life, Venus Foreman, in the Tahlequah rodeo arena—a fitting venue for a couple whose lives were filled with love, laughter, and a passion for the sport of Rodeo. Together, they raised three sons: Jack, Gary, and Benny. They were married for over 48 years until Venus’s passing in 1992.
Norma was a long-time member of Lowery Free Will Baptist Church and also enjoyed worshiping with the congregations at Exciting Southeast Baptist Church in Pryor and Gospel Lighthouse Church near Kansas, Oklahoma. She served faithfully as Postmaster at the Oaks Post Office for over 30 years, where she became a friendly and familiar face to many in the community.
Norma’s life was marked by a deep love for her family, her faith, and her community. She had a love for watching basketball, especially when her granddaughters Cheyenne and Halee were on the court— never missing a game. Known for her exceptional cooking, Norma’s fried chicken and biscuits and gravy were legendary among family and friends.
A true Proverbs 31 woman, Norma exemplified kindness, grace, and generosity. Her door was always open, particularly to rodeo friends, family, and the many friends of Cheyenne and Halee who passed through her home. Everyone was welcomed as family—and no one ever left hungry. Her quiet strength, warm heart, and gentle spirit left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Norma is survived by: 2 sons: Jack Foreman and wife JoAnne of Bixby, Oklahoma and Benny Foreman and wife Lisa of Oaks, Oklahoma; 4 grandchildren: Jimme Beth Hefner and husband Paul, John Chance Foreman, Cheyenne Roberts and husband Colton, and Halee Foreman and Colton Patton; 4 great grandchildren: Kinslee, Cashley, Addison, and Raylon; 1 sister: Ann Trimble of Kansas, Oklahoma; 1 sister-in-law: Teddee Goedecke of Twin Oaks, Oklahoma; numerous other family members and a host of friends.
Norma was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; 1 son: Gary “Gov” Foreman; 2 brothers: Ernest Dean Goedecke and John Goedecke; and 3 sisters: Alma Grace Pack, Ruth Schmitt, and Laura Wilmuth.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Cheyenne Osburn and Alyssa Brown of Gentiva Hospice for their compassionate care and support.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Oaks Cemetery in Oaks, Oklahoma, with Reverend Sam Andrews officiating. Services are entrusted to Locust Grove Funeral Home. Thoughts, memories, and condolences may be shared at www.LocustGroveFuneralHome.com.
