Jewel Faye Shotpouch

Jewel Faye Shotpouch, passed away at the Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville, AR, on Thursday, February 14, 2013 at the age of 84.

Jewel was born April 3, 1928 in Eucha, OK, the daughter of the late Joseph Chopper and Lucy (Tanner) Chopper. Jewel grew up in Eucha and attended school in the area until after 8th grade where she moved up to North Central Oklahoma and graduated from the Chilocco Indian School. Jewel moved back to Eucha after completing high school. On August 14, 1950 she married Mike Shotpouch and to this union they raised 9 children. The couple after raising their family, they moved around for some of sometime, living in several different cities, including Ponca City, Kansas and Colorado. Jewel enjoyed cooking where she cooked 3 full meals a day. She also was known for her Huckleberry pies where she won first prize four years in a row at the Huckleberry festival. She also enjoyed sewing, gardening, and yard sales but most of all she loved to be with her family especially her grandchildren. She was a member of Faith Mission Church. She will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three sisters, and one brother.

She is survived by her children: Jackson Shotpouch and his wife Pam of Jay, OK, Johnson Shotpouch and his wife Connie of Jay, OK, Michael Shotpouch and his wife Tenna of Jay, OK, Chummy Shotpouch and his wife Gwen of Jay, OK, Melvina Shotpouch of Jay, OK, Mary Hudson and her husband Bob of Jay, OK, Helen Welch and friend Harold of Jay, OK, Sarah Adams and husband Jack of Jay, OK, and Deanna Shotpouch and daughter Mikela Woods of Eucha, OK; 23 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; two adopted children: Jennie Reed of Jay, OK and Shawnee Rooney of Grove, OK; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Jean Reed who took Jewel to Dialysis the last three years.

The funeral service will be held at the First Baptist Church on Monday, February 18, 2013 at 2PM with Pastor Chester Crittenden, presiding and Pastor Dewitt Teehee, assisting. The burial will follow at the Hillside Cemetery in Deleware County, OK. The family will greet friends starting at 3PM on Sunday Afternoon, February 17, 2013 at the family’s home. Arrangements are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Jay, OK. Friends and family may leave notes of encouragement by viewing Jewel’s Book of Memories at www.honoringmemories.com.

Casket bearers will be Casey Adams, Carson Longton, Kenton Shotpouch, Kip Shotpouch, Rodney Shotpouch, and Mikie Shotpouch.
