Janie Nadine Wyatt Rush, 80, of Houston, Texas, died January 20, 2015, at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston.

Formerly of Bartlesville, OK, Mrs. Rush was born January 24, 1934, in Big Cabin, OK, to J.R. Wyatt and Nancy Wilkie Wyatt, one of 10 children. She lived many places in her life, from Dewey, OK, to North Carolina, to Brazil and London.

She graduated Big Cabin High School in 1950 at the age of 16. That fall she entered Northeastern Oklahoma A & M Junior College, where she completed her studies and was recruited by Phillips Petroleum in 1952. There she met Gene Rush and they were married February 14, 1953.

Mrs. Rush was a loving and wonderful person, quietly supportive and proud of her family. She was dignified and strong and never had a negative word to say. She was stylish and intelligent, funny and caring. Crossword puzzles were her favorite hobby – the harder the better. She followed politics but rarely took sides.

Mrs. Rush is preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Kevin Rush and Jay Rush; and a grandson, Randy Rush.

She is survived by her son Chris Rush and his wife Jenny; daughter Ann Clayton and her husband Ben; daughter-in-law Vickie Womack and her husband Rodney; 10 grandchildren, Derek Rush, Jason Rush, Carrie Lovejoy, Delaina Rush, DeWayne Rush, Rachel Womack, Taylor Womack, Katelyn Brenneis and Ashley Resewehr; and 11 great-grandchildren.

A Gathering of Friends - Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Rush will take place at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Walker-Brown Funeral Home Chapel in Bartlesville, OK with Rodney Womack officiating. A private graveside service will be held at Hickory Grove Cemetery near Grove, OK. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Walker-Brown Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to: Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy, 516 North Adams Street, Tallahassee, FL 32301. Contributions may also be made online at barbarabush.org. Please place Mrs. Rush's name in the comment section so that family members may acknowledge gifts.

Online condolences for the family may be left at www.walkerbrownfuneralhome.com.
