Byrd Lee Proctor, 75, of Jay, Oklahoma died at 7:50 a.m., Friday, July 3, 2009 at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, Missouri.

Byrd was born June 11, 1934 in Kenwood, Oklahoma to Cornsilk and Sallie Mae (Bigacorn) Proctor. Byrd attended school in Kenwood. He worked as a production worker for Webb Wheel in Siloam Springs, Arkansas.

Byrd was a very private person but loved having his family around. His greatest enjoyment in life was singing and playing his guitar. He would not miss a singing if he could help it.

Three sisters and one brother preceded Byrd in death.

Survivors include one sister, Loraine Angelo of Grove, Oklahoma and lots and lots of nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Jay. Byrd will lie in state at Euwasha Baptist Church in Kenwood from 10:00 p.m. Wednesday until service time on Thursday.

The funeral for Byrd will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 9, 2009 at Euwasha Baptist Church, Kenwood, Oklahoma. Burial will follow in Euwasha Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Byrds nephews, Shawn Bales, Mike Bales, Darrell Bales, Zim Bearpaw, Wayne Bearpaw, and Robbie Bearpaw.
