Dewayne Phillips, 48, of Salina, Oklahoma, passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2013 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. He was born on January 9, 1965 in Claremore, Oklahoma, the son of Nancy Davis. He was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Kenwood, Oklahoma. Dewayne graduated from Jay High School. He worked for the Cherokee Nation in Natural Resources for over 15 years. Dewayne was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend who will be so very missed.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, May 6, 2013 at 10 a.m. in the Kenwood Gymnasium with Reverend Lorne Beck, Buddy Ross and Anthony Ross officiating. Interment will be in the Euwasha Cemetery with Bradley Phillips, Kevin Backwater, Ben Backwater, Gereld Sapp, Rodney Sapp, Travis Budder, Darren Budder, Jeremy Scott serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers are Phyllis Scott, Jr. Watson, Timothy White, Jerry Tagg, Jr. Jumper and James Raper and Nathan Six.

He is survived by his mother, Nancy Buckskin of Kenwood, OK; 2 brothers, Steven Phillips and Dennis Phillips of Kenwood, OK; 3 sisters, Doris Kirby of Eucha, OK, Sherry Phillips and Tyra Buckskin of Kenwood, OK; many nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Mixwater Buckskin; grandmother, Polly Backwater; nephews, Ryan Phillips and Stephen Phillips; cousin, Michael Phillips.
