John Allen Blackbear, Sr., went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 10, 2012 at the age of 55.

John was born on February 18, 1957 in Tahlequah, OK, the son of Jim and Mary (Levi) Blackbear. John was a mechanic by trade but also cut wood and hauled hay. He was a carpenter and heavy equipment operator. John was a member of the Tyio Church. He loved to fish, hunt and spend time with family and friends.

John married Mildred Shoemaker on May 15, 1978 at Quapaw, OK.

He was preceded in death by a son John Blackbear, Jr.; parents Jim Blackbear and Mary Levi Blackbear Weeley; two brothers Gerald Blackbear and Jimmy Blackbear; sister Diane Williams; and three grandchildren: Rachael Downing of Jay, Shelby Holt of Eucha, and Brandon Blackbear of Tahlequah.

He is survived by his wife Mildred of the home; three children Christina Blackbear of Tahlequah, Jon Levi Blackbear of the home; and Amber Blackbear also of the home; sisters: Lois Blackbear of Salina, Marie Weeley of Oak Hill, and Margaret Gains of Grove; two brothers: Richard Blackbear of Eucha and Joseph Blackbear of Jay; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

The funeral service will be held at the Euwasha Baptist Church on Friday, December 14, 2012 at 2PM with Pastor Jess Williams, officiating. The burial will follow at the Euwasha Cemetery in Kenwood, OK. The family will greet friends from 6PM to 8PM at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Jay, OK on Thursday, December 13, 2012. Arrangements are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Jay, OK. Friends and family may leave notes of encouragement by viewing John’s Book of Memories at honoringmemories.com.

Casket bearers will be Jon Blackbear, Curtis Wadlow, Mike Robbins, Jerry Staller, Jr., Roland “Butch” Johnson, and Leonard Stick.

Honorary casket bearers will be Alan King and Carl Kirby.
