Carolyn Kay “CK” Steele was born on July 6, 1946, in Tulsa, to John Franklin Wilson and Dorothy Mae (Dobbs) Wilson. She passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2026, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 79 years, 7 months, and 6 days. Having grown up in Tulsa, she was a graduate of Central High School. She continued her education at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education.
On November 19, 1966, Carolyn was united in marriage to Jerry Steele in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Together they built a loving home and were blessed with three children: Michael, Lisa, and Cory. In 1977, the family moved to Rose, Oklahoma, where they established deep roots and lifelong friendships. Jerry preceded Carolyn in death on October 14, 2011, after more than 44 years of marriage.
Carolyn devoted many years to being a dedicated homemaker and mother, pouring her heart into her family. In 1993, she began working for Kansas Public Schools in the cafeteria. Her love for children and learning soon led her to become an elementary computer teacher, where she inspired young minds with patience and kindness. Even after retirement, Carolyn’s servant’s heart drew her back to the school system, where she faithfully served as the middle school secretary. In 2025, she made her home in Kansas, Oklahoma.
A woman of deep faith, Carolyn was a devoted member of Leach First Baptist Church. She faithfully served as church secretary and blessed her congregation by playing both the piano and organ. She was actively involved in church life and found great joy in worship and fellowship.
Carolyn had a love for adventure and travel. She treasured memories of an Alaskan cruise, a motorcycle trip to Colorado, visits to Florida, and was eagerly planning a trip to England. More than any destination, however, she cherished time spent with her family, friends, and especially her grandchildren. She remained actively involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren, offering steady support, encouragement, and unconditional love.
Carolyn is survived by: her three children: Michael Steele of Chicago, Illinois, Lisa Nelson and husband Chris of Hominy, Oklahoma, and Cory Steele and wife Carrie of Kansas, Oklahoma; five grandchildren: Aspen Nelson, Haven Nelson, Talon Nelson, Seneca Steele, and Shawnee Steele; along with other relatives and a host of dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Jerry.
The family requests that donations be made in Carolyn’s memory to Leach First Baptist Church. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, February 23, 2026, at Leach First Baptist Church in Leach, Oklahoma, with Pastor Eric Armstrong officiating.
