COOKSON -- Sam Lee McCoy, of Cookson, was born Saturday, Feb. 7, 1942, in Tahlequah to Milton Pete and Susie Cheater McCoy and died Wednesday, April 21, 2010, in Tahlequah at the age of 68 years, 2 months and 14 days.

Sam had worked as a laborer and enjoyed his family. He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Peggy (Flute) McCoy of Cookson; son, Michael Wayne McCoy of Tahlequah; daughter, Rhonda Kay Welsh and her husband Harmon of Tulsa; brother, Charley D. McCoy and his wife Mary of Cookson; sisters, Ida Jane Johnson and her husband Thomas L. of Tahlequah, Norma Jean Washington and her husband Leon of Cookson; grandchildren, Kendall McCoy, Darrell McCoy, Tashina Snell, Maggie Welsh, Kert Cully and Laney Cully; great-grandchildren, Logan Rill and Kaden Rill.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 24, 2010, at the Reed-Culver Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charlie Shell and Rev. Foreman Steel officiating. Burial will follow in the Dry Creek Cemetery with Kenny Holmes, Roger Thorn, Nick Cheater, Darrell Lee McCoy, Mike McCoy and Harmon Welsh serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Fourkiller, Leon Washington, Harvey Johnson, Tom Johnson, Wesley Davis and Steve Campbell.

Visitation will be from noon until 8 p.m. Friday, April 23, 2010 at the Reed-Culver Funeral Home.
