Nila Schoonmaker, 86, was born in Thomas, Oklahoma, to John David and Zelma (Egelston) Schoolname(sic). She passed away peacefully from heart failure with her family by her side.

Nila graduated from Putnam High School in 1954, a year early, having skipped the 8th grade. Immediately after graduation, she moved to Enid to pursue a lifetime career as a bookkeeper. She worked for several local accounting firms before retiring after 22 years as the bookkeeper/office manager for Enid Lincoln Mercury.

On May 19, 1956, she married Ray Haiduk. He passed away in 2004. She was also preceded in death by her parents and three older siblings.

She is survived by her daughter, Melanie Christner; grandchildren, Erika Christner and Gabe Christner; and great-grandson, Oliver Christner. She is also survived by her son, John Haiduk, wife Darla, and granddaughters Marena and Sanne Haiduk.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
