Richard D. "Dick" Hansen

April 10, 1929 ~ November 27, 2006

Funeral services for Richard D. Hansen, 77, of Ninnekah will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, December 1, 2006, in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Johnny Tims officiating.

Dick was born April 10, 1929, in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Albert and Freda [Davis] Hansen. He died November 27, 2006, in Chickasha.

He grew up in Sioux City, Iowa where he attended local schools. At age 16 he entered the Merchant Marines, and proudly served his country.

Dick married Darlene Hargues on September 1, 1976, in Las Vegas Nevada. They lived in Ardmore and then in Oklahoma City, where Dick worked in telephone advertising. In 1977 he started his own business and established Wide Area Directory. In 1981, they moved to Ninnekah where they made their home, expanded their business, and made many friends.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Chickasha Elks Lodge, Chickasha Golf & Country Club, and Cottonwood Creek.

He was preceded in death by both parents and one brother, Wallace Hansen.

He is survived by his wife Darlene, of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law: Rhoda and Kent Shepherd, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and Beth Ann and Dwayne Worster, of Omaha, Nebraska; three sons and daughters-in-law: Ritchie and Lisa Hansen, of Balkarie, Florida; Douglas and Kathy Hansen and Steve and Debbie Hansen, all of Omaha, Nebraska; two step-daughters and son-in-law: Darla and Mark Hefley, of Elk City, Oklahoma and Diana McMeans of Ardmore, Oklahoma; sister and husband: Marilyn and Mel Ahlquist; sister-in-law, Roberta Hansen; fourteen grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

In lieu of Flowers the family requests donations be made to the Chickasha Elks Lodge.

Interment will be held at 3:00 p.m. in the Butler Cemetery in Butler, Oklahoma under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
