William Eugene "Bill" Plaster

William (Bill) Plaster, age 90 and resident of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 in the Journey Home. Funeral services were held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, October 14, 2016 at the Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Kevin Tully of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Military graveside rites and burial were conducted in the Sapulpa City Cemetery at 2:30 P.M. under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home.

William Eugene Plaster was born March 22, 1926 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. He was the sixth of seven children of Ed Plaster and Deby Melissa Stewart Plaster. When he was 6 years old, his father was transferred to Glenrock, Wyoming, where Bill graduated high school in 1944 before enlisting in the U.S. Navy, where he served in the Pacific Theatre, Japan during World War II. After receiving his honorable discharge as Radioman Second Class in 1946, he studied at the University of Tulsa and received his Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Refining in 1950.

Bill married Mary Elizabeth Morsch in Casper, Wyoming March 29, 1951. Mary passed away March 29, 1981. From 1951-1954 Bill worked for Standard Oil of Indiana in Casper, Wyoming and Continental; Oil Company in Westlake, Louisiana. In 1955, Bill completed his Master's degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Oklahoma and began employment with Phillips Petroleum Company in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. From 1961 to 1963 Bill was Process Engineer on development of polypropylene process and made final decision for polypropylene unit at Monument plant. The latter years of his career he was Principal Engineer-Energy Conservation, keeping up to date on legislature affecting energy conservation.

July 3, 1982, Bill married Barbara Campbell. After retirement in August of 1985, Bill and Barbara learned to round dance and spent over 20 winter seasons in Mesa, Arizona, round dancing and socializing with many friends from many different states. Bill's other favorite activities were golfing and singing. For many years he was a member of the Phillips Men's Club. He also loved to travel. They took a Caribbean and an Alaskan cruise; visited many states including Florida and Hawaii several times; enjoyed trips to Mexico, Israel, Egypt, Australia, New Zealand, and three or four trips to Scotland and England.

Bill was a Christian and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bartlesville, the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, and a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Oklahoma.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary, four infant children, four brothers, and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife Barbara, his son Steven Plaster and his wife Vanessa and their daughter Betsy of Wichita, Kansas; stepson Gary Allsup and his wife Sherrie of Corpus Christi, Texas; stepson David Allsup and his wife Becky of Bartlesville, Oklahoma and Sam Allsup and Benn Allsup of Fort Collins, Colorado; sister-in-law Shirley Plaster of Scottsbluff, Nebraska and Sharon Plaster of Boise, Idaho; Delores Campbell of Chickasha, Oklahoma; Phillis Campbell of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; and brother and sister-in-law Ray and Mae Ann Shepherd of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces and nephews.
