James grew up in Three Rivers, Texas where he attended school and played many hours with his siblings, cousins, and friends. He was the son of a preacher and moved to Drumright when his father became the pastor of the Church of God of Apostolic Faith. That's where he met Emma Cleora "Ora”"Parson. They were married on October 30, 1948 and soon began a family.

James excelled as a carpenter and built two houses for his family in his lifetime. He worked the majority of his life in the area oil fields but his most meaningful work was serving his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. James was very active in his church and was song leader for 40 years. He would also lead the music every week at the Drumright Nursing Home services. When it came to singing, he was not bashful, which was evident by his passion and 1 volume: loud. He cared for her daily needs for many years and was faithful and loving till she went home to heaven.

In addition to his parents & wife, he was preceded in death by 4 Brothers: Dr. Jesse Moon, Virgil, Bobby - & Arlis; 3 Sisters: Janell Hargrave, Eula Moon - & Kathy Vidalis, and their spouses.
